Remember these two cuties? I had the awesome pleasure of working with them a second time.

This time around we stuck their neighborhood in Jacobsburg, Ohio. It was a gorgeous autumn day and the girls were in prime adorableness.

These two sisters (as you can plainly see) are absolutely adorable! And their matching outfits did nothing but add to that. Add in youthful innocence, sweet smiles, silly energy and a golden sunset and you will get the perfect combination for a great photo setting that’s full of life and enchantment.

I always find it fascinating how siblings can be so unique yet so similar at the same time. They both have their own personalities and interests but it’s undeniable that they are united sisters.

Oh by the way.. I absolutely love these two!

Grandkids | Steubenville OH Photographer

It’s hard to believe it’s that time of year again. School is back in session, leaves are starting to change colors.  And like it or not, the holidays are quickly approaching!

Recently, I helped another family start their Christmas shopping. That is, I did some portraits of these four, which will be a gift for their grandmother for Christmas.

Portraits for grandparents are always such a great idea for gifts. Some grandparents get to see their grandkids all the time while others live across the country and rarely do. Either way and no matter what age they are, grandbabies are usually the light of their life. And no one knows better than Grandma, how fast time goes by and how quickly we grow up. So preserving these times is so special to them. I was so excited to help do that for this family!

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to get all the grandkids together since they live down in Florida. But I think we still did Grandma good 🙂

Bloopers | Steubenville OH Photographer

I was working on some editing today, and while doing so I came across a blooper. This isn’t that unusual. In fact, it’s more unusual to not have a blooper in a session. Well this time it got me to thinking, “what a fun idea for a blog post!” We’re always trying to make ourselves look our best in your images. Why not highlight the “not so perfect” shots. It could be fun! Well, fun for the people viewing who weren’t in these photos anyway 8)

Bloopers happen in ANY type of situation. Family portraits, child portraits, even weddings.  And they come in all sorts of types.

Facial Vomit

Steubenville OH Photographer

Probably the most common of the bloopers. Where at least one person in the portrait makes an unflattering, unplanned, or just down right funny face.

The Photo-bomb

Steubenville OH Photographer

Where “uninvited parties” jump into your photo. These, along with shots in the Facial Vomit category, don’t always make it above the fireplace. But both are fun to keep and look back on years from now.

Get the Sillies Out

Steubenville OH Photographer

This category is most common with kids but trust me, it can include adults too. It’s really self explanatory. Sometimes, you just need to get the sillies out.

And sometimes, you have to let your photographer know if they’re doing a good job or not.

First Day of Pre-School | Steubenville OH Photographer

I’m going to get a little personal on the blog today. It’s been a while and today is much deserving. Why? Because today is my daughter’s first day of preschool!

Steubenville OH Photographer

(I swear I will die trying to get this kid to look at me for a picture!)

Not only is it her first day of preschool, it’s also her best friend, Morgan’s first day as well. And not only is it both of their first days of school, they’ll be attending the same school. And in the same class! Out of four classes, I don’t know how it happened, but they’re pretty darn happy it did!

Steubenville OH Photographer

I woke up super early this morning and made special s’mores pancakes and scrambled eggs for the big day. Though, I don’t know that any got eaten by kids. They were all too excited to eat!

Out of everyone, I think my mother was the most emotional. But I was, and still am, too overcome from excitement to even focus on my little baby heading to school. Though, Emma did get a little upset when I told her she wasn’t riding the bus. Hahaha!

Jaycen + Kendall // Kendall | One Year

Once again, I’m going to stick it to the man and break some blogging rules by posting a ton of pictures!

I shot these two along with their mom back in the summer when Kendall was just a few months old. It really doesn’t seem like it was all that long ago, but I guess it was because she just had her first birthday. I can’t believe she’s already one!

Last time we worked together, it was much earlier in the day. I definitely think we had a lot more energy this time. Both kids were spunky and ready to have some fun! 😉

blog1BLOG2blog7

We started off with some shots of the two of them together, snuck in a couple of just Jaycen  and worked our way to the messy (but fun!) portion of the shoot, the cake smash!!

blog3

I think the poor think wound up with more on of feet and legs than she did her hands and mouth! Hahaha! It was too cute watching her try and wipe it off on the floor! blog4BLOG5blog6Towards the end, I think Jaycen got a bit hungry and wanted a taste of the cake.. Though, I can’t say I blame him. It looked awfully good 😉

Trick or Treat 2012

I just wanted to say thank you to all of those ghosts and goblins that came out for the Trick or Treat minis despite the cold and rainy weather we had! I had so much fun and loved seeing everyone’s costumes!

Also, I want to give a special thank you to Joseph Kubat for being our onsite zombie and to Melanie Kubat and Caroline Luli for manning the candy station. I appreciate everyone’s help and loved having you guys over!

So without any more delay, here are the images from last night’s event!

All of the images are posted individually on Halloween cards for you to share with your family and friends on my Facebook fan page.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween! See you at the next event!

Howard Family

Meet the Howard family! This adorable young family were drug out of bed bright and early to come spend their morning with me last week. True to form, the weather around here is always unpredictable and the forecast changes daily. It was a cold, foggy morning and the poor girls were feeling it.

We picked a spot right by a playground. Normally this is a good idea when photographing kids. It gives them something to look forward too, a place to play when they need a break as well as nice lifestyle shots. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case on this day. The temperature and gotten to freezing levels the night before causing all the play equipment to be covered in ice.

I love the hammy smile in the one below here!

Despite the cool climate these little girls did great! Most kids wouldn’t have lasted a minute and they did longer than to have been expected. We got some cute and silly family shots and while the girls  warmed up in the car we got a few of just Mom and Dad!Thanks for such a beautiful session! 🙂

Model Search 2012

In case you didn’t know, I recently upgraded my camera. I’m super excited and super in love! But before I bust it out and take it to a session, like any new toy, I wanted to play with it and get a good feel for it. So, I posted on my Facebook asking for any volunteers that wanted to model for me to help me test the bad boy out! Nothing serious, just for fun and for “educational purposes.”

I have been wanting “mother/daugther” pictures of me and Emma, so I did go a little carried away with a set up for those. But, like every other time shooting my daughter, she didn’t cooperate and my efforts were wasted. But I got a couple do-able shots, I think!

Everything was shot at my mom’s house. No studio set up, lights, flash, etc. Completely au naturale.

The first two models were Brodie and Paeyton. Aren’t they gorgeous? They didn’t cooperate well. But we don’t get along well, so what can you expect?
This shot was done in Mom’s dining room next to an open window.

Next up, we have my niece, Maia! She’s modeled for me before and is helping me get the baby photography down and I’m helping her getting use to being in front of a camera (which she, like her cousin, isn’t always the biggest fan of).
These shots were done in the middle of my mother’s drive way.

Okay, so these weren’t technically at my mom’s house. But it was walking distance so it counts. I had an idea for a super awesome shoot for me and Emma, and I actually spent a good bit of time setting this up. She hated it. So, I brought Maia back out and her momma, Malorie. Maia hated it too. She cried through most of the shoot. Did I mention the sun hid while we were out? Yep. Total bummer. Oh! And as soon as I tore it all down, hello gorgeous sunshine! Lame.

I hurried up and took those clique “Facebook photos” where you turn your camera around and try to snap yourself, to get some of that pretty light and again, no love from Emma.

Oh well!

The next day my friend, Jessie, lent me her son, Ruckus to model for me. He did cooperate for me. He played around and goofed off and made it quite easy for me to maneuver back and forth, testing out setting to see what worked best. Plus me and Jessie got to catch up!

These were shot in Mom’s backyard behind her house.

Thanks again to all of my models (except Paeyton). You were a big help and a lot of fun!
