I absolutely adored working with these two! Ashley and Thomas were two of the happiest and sweetest people I’ve ever met.

We did their engagement session at Oglebay Park in Wheeling, WV. It’s a common place for couples and families alike to get portraits done and there’s a reason. It’s gorgeous, has diverse scenery and never disappoints. And that held true for us.

Randy

Remember on my last post how I promised a continuation? Well, here it is!

This part of their session was focused solely on their son, Randy. He had no idea what we had in store for him or that he even was going to be doing more pictures after their shoot. His mom and I planned the whole thing without him even knowing. He loves pirates and has all kinds of pirate play gear at home. So I thought it would be fun to incorporate what he loves best into his pictures. I built the boat and his mom packed his pirate clothes and hid them in the car.

When the family part of the session was over, we headed back to the parking area and told  him we had a surprise for him. We unpacked the car and headed back to a quiet leafy spot where he was able to play, laugh and be as loud as he wanted.

I love doing sessions like this. The kids get to laugh and have fun and you get more natural and exciting expressions out of them. Plus, it’s a great memory to have to look back on – the things they cared about/were interested in as a child and not just your standard “school backdrop look at the camera and say ‘cheese'” type of pictures. It shows them.

Littleton Family

Once again I am breaking a session into two posts. But this kinda was two sessions done at once. This post, the first half of the session, we did family portraits. The second half, which will be posted in a few days, was just child portraits, which we did do some in the first half, but for the second part was a complete surprise for Little Randy and was themed. But more on that later.

Lavell is like me. The fun, loud, goofy type. Randy, her husband, is more of the quiet type. I think I heard him say three words the whole session. But then again, I’m a talker, so me not hearing other people speak much is nothing but normal. Hahaha! Little Randy is more like his momma. He is outgoing, energetic and goofy. Needless to say, we had a lot of fun!

Check back for the second half of this session featuring Little Randy!

Emma

This darling little girl was so fun to work with! We met up at Oglebay Park in Wheeling and the weather was beautiful! It was the last sunny day we had last week before the hurricane weather came in. The temperature was in the 80s, the sun was shining and the leaves were gorgeous.

We started off in the butterfly garden and let Emma explore. It wasn’t long before she had us several miles in onto one of nature trails that the park has to offer. I hadn’t been on the trails in probably a year or more and honestly, she couldn’t have picked a better day to roam off and take us on a hike. It lead to quite a relaxing shoot 😉

For someone who had never been on the trails before she sure took to them like a pro! We just followed her and let her explore and she guided us and told us about all of the things we were seeing. It was too cute!

Tiff + Kayla

My last session of the year! And boy was it a cold one. I know I live in the Valley and I should be use to it since the cold weather does come year after year, but it always knocks me on my feet nonetheless. It rained the night before and the ground was wet and muddy so it made it hard to get those cuddly in the winter weather but these ladies were still ready to go out there and give it all they had and try to overlook the difficulties nature had given us. The pooches didn’t seem to mind the cold or the mud and just had a blast running around in the fresh, open air.

Kayla contacted me just days before wanting to know if I would be able to squeeze them in to get a few quick shots to mail with Christmas cards with their pups and friend, Chey. Naturally, I was delighted to! The session was short but we had a good time nonetheless. And for a moment, everyone seemed to forget that it was December out there. Okay, well maybe not, but at least give the impression that they had forgotten. 😉

Autumn Sunshine :)

Think you’ve seen this girl lately? That’s because she consumes half of my blog posts! Her name is, Emma (though I’m sure you already know) and she’s my gorgeous little two year old. The reason you see so much of her on my blog is because she’s such a big part of my life. She has my full heart and is with me every single day(however, a break here or there would be nice! 😉 ). I post these shots because I want to give you a look and feel of how I am as a person and that I’m not just someone who takes pictures as a “job.” I take them everyday, to capture everything. I’m a real, down-to-earth, goofy gal, a mom, and someone who enjoys life and wants to preserve the precious moments in it. And lets face it, if you had a whirl wind of energy this cute running throughout your house, wouldn’t you try and get a few snappies to show off? 😉
